The Survivor

Echo Lake isn't far from where I live and it has miles of hiking trails that traverse around the alpine lake of incredible turquoise blue. My husband and I took a boat across the lake and then had a lovely hike broken up by lunch while sitting on large, warm granite boulders. This tree epitomizes what it mean to survive. Apparently it must have been struck by lightning and the top died yet it was still standing over the lake.
